Ah, sleep. That elusive, mythical thing that everyone talks about but never seems to experience—until recently, of course. After what felt like a lifetime of rolling around in bed, staring at the ceiling, and wondering what it would be like to feel human again, a breakthrough finally happened: a couple of days of sleep that lasted longer than a nap. Not excellent sleep, mind you, but a solid four-plus hours. That’s practically a victory in the world of sleep-deprived adulthood.
With this newfound, semi-functional energy (courtesy of slightly better-than-trash sleep), it was time to do something that hadn’t been done in far too long—deep clean the house. Yes, that dreaded event that occurs twice a month, where every corner, nook, and cranny is scrubbed, wiped, and sanitized within an inch of its life. Why, you ask? Because three children live in this house, and, quite frankly, no one’s interested in turning the place into a Petri dish. They’re already bringing home enough colds, flu, and questionable germs from school as it is—why take any chances? No one has time for that drama.
Armed with cleaning supplies, determination, and maybe a dash of caffeine, the house was tackled like it was preparing for a grand inspection from a germophobic royal. Everything needed to be sparkling and sterilized, and that’s not just for show—it’s for survival. Because if you have kids, you know: germs aren’t just germs, they’re tactical forces sent to ruin your week.
The deep cleaning ritual is a necessary evil, but at least there was some decent sleep to fuel it. And guess what? It actually felt nice to wake up without feeling like a zombie for a change. Shocking, right? Who knew that a few uninterrupted hours of shut-eye could make such a difference? Here’s hoping this “decent sleep” thing sticks around for a while because waking up not feeling like a sleep-deprived raccoon rummaging through the emotional trash of exhaustion is actually quite refreshing.
In the meantime, the house is now gleaming, the germs are (hopefully) on the run, and there’s just enough energy left to dream about—what else—more sleep. Because after all, nothing’s more satisfying than waking up to a clean house and a little bit of rest.
